Porcelain Veneers

What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin shells of ceramic material which are bonded to the front of teeth. They are highly resistant to permanent staining from coffee, tea, or even cigarette smoking. The wafer-thin porcelain veneers can achieve a tenacious bond to the tooth, resulting in a pleasing naturalness that is unsurpassed by other restorative options.

When would porcelain veneers be recommended?
Porcelain veneers are excellent in providing a conservative approach to changing a tooth's color, size, or shape. They are ideal for masking defects such as teeth stained by tetracycline or damaged by an injury. Patients with gaps betweent their front teeth or teeth that are chipped, worn, or crooked may consider porcelain veneers.

How long will the procedure take?
You will need three appointments for the entire procedure: diagnosis and treatment planning, preparation, and bonding.

How real do porcelain veneers look?
Porcelain veneers can look as natural and esthetic as any restorations we do for our patients. Veneers can make your teeth look better, but still look like "your" teeth. Porcelain veneers are what give many actors, models, entertainers, and sports stars their perfect "Hollywood" smiles.

This photo is of one of Dr. Dunne’s long-term dental hygienists, Susan. She decided to have porcelain veneers placed on her teeth to make her smile whiter and close some minor spaces.

Dr. Dunne’s team values excellent dental care for themselves, their families and their patients.
